Edge Protection Testing, Certification & Compliance Documents

Review the test, inspection and technical documents used to support APAC temporary edge protection systems for different markets and project requirements.

Compliance should be evaluated against the actual system configuration, including the barrier, safety post, attachment, fixing method and supporting structure. APAC can help buyers identify the relevant documents for the product, market and project being reviewed rather than relying on a certificate image alone.

UNDERSTANDING THE EVIDENCE

Not Every Technical Document Proves the Same Thing

A certificate, test record, drawing and production inspection report answer different questions. Buyers should understand what each document actually covers before using it for supplier or project approval.

Evidence	What It Shows	Important Boundary
Third-Party Attestation	An external document relating to the product, standard or assessment scope stated on that document.	The exact product, scope and supporting evidence should still be checked.
Product Test Record	Records how a particular product or system configuration was tested and the results obtained.	Results apply to the configuration and conditions covered by that test.
Product Drawing	Shows dimensions, connections and other product details for the specified version.	The drawing revision should match the product being purchased.
Inspection Record	Records selected dimensional, workmanship, surface, assembly or shipment checks.	It applies to the inspected production, batch or shipment scope.
Installation Information	Explains the intended combination and installation method for a defined system.	Actual site conditions and supporting structures still need to be checked.

TESTING PROCESS

Inside an Edge Protection Load Test

The historical APAC Class A test record shows how loads were applied to defined temporary edge protection configurations and how movement and product behaviour were recorded.

Define the System

Confirm the barrier, safety post, attachment, dimensions, spacing and supporting structure being assessed.

Apply the Load

Test loads are applied at defined positions according to the selected test method and system class.

Measure the Response

Deflection, movement and visible product behaviour are measured and recorded during the test.

Review the Result

The recorded result is reviewed against the criteria and conditions applicable to that test.

See the Test Process, Not Just the Final Document

A useful technical review looks at how the system was configured, where the loads were applied, what was measured and which products were included in the assessment. Test videos and additional records can be reviewed where available for the selected product or system.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

A Test Report Belongs to a Defined Configuration

Edge protection works as a system. Changing one component or fixing condition can affect whether existing test evidence remains relevant.

Barrier

Barrier design, dimensions and connection details form part of the system being reviewed.

Safety Post

Post type, height and connection arrangement can affect the complete system behaviour.

Attachment

Clamp, socket, base or other fixing component should match the tested or reviewed configuration.

Structure & Spacing

Post spacing, fixing position and supporting structure are important parts of the assessment.

Match the Evidence

The purchased system should be checked against the exact scope and configuration covered by the available documentation.

Changing a Component Can Change the Technical Review

Replacing the barrier, post, attachment, spacing or supporting structure with a different configuration should not automatically be treated as covered by the same document.

STANDARDS BY MARKET

Understanding Edge Protection Requirements by Market

Different markets use different standards and regulatory frameworks. Buyers should confirm the applicable requirement together with the exact system configuration before placing an order.

BEFORE USING A TEST DOCUMENT

Check What the Document Actually Covers

Technical evidence is most useful when the buyer can clearly identify the product, system configuration, standard edition and scope covered by the document.

Important Technical Boundary

A standard number, attestation or test record should not be treated as blanket approval for every possible APAC edge protection configuration. Technical evidence applies to the products, fixing method, configuration and conditions covered by that document. Different posts, barriers, attachments, spacing, supporting structures or installation methods may require further review. Final system selection and site use should always be checked against the project specification and applicable local requirements.
