SINGAPORE PROJECT
GS E&C T301 – East Coast Integrated Depot Edge Protection Project
A large-scale modular edge protection system supplied for changing construction zones across Singapore's East Coast Integrated Depot project.
APAC supplied a standardized socket-based edge protection system for GS E&C's T301 project across two project phases in 2019 and 2021. The modular configuration combined Socket Bases, 1.2 m Safety Posts and 2.6 m Mesh Panels, allowing temporary protection to be installed, relocated and reused as construction progressed.

PROJECT CHALLENGE
Large-Scale Edge Protection Across Constantly Changing Work Areas
The scale and construction sequence of the integrated depot created thousands of metres of temporary exposed edges across multiple work zones.Three Requirements Shaped the System
- Large-Scale & Changing Work Areas: Extensive exposed edges moved and changed as different areas of the depot progressed through construction.
- Phased Construction: The contractor needed a standardized system that could be installed, removed, relocated and reused between work areas.
- Safety & Site Efficiency: Thousands of metres of temporary edges had to be protected consistently while reducing installation time and unnecessary on-site fabrication.
APAC SOLUTION
A Standardized Socket-Based Edge Protection System
APAC supplied a modular configuration built around Socket Bases, 1.2 m Safety Posts and 2.6 m Mesh Panels.Designed to Be Installed, Relocated and Reused
The socket-based configuration created standardized fixing points for the Safety Posts, while the 2.6 m Mesh Panels formed the temporary protective barrier along exposed edges. Because the system used repeatable modular components, the contractor could relocate the protection as different work areas became active instead of fabricating a new guardrail arrangement for each construction zone. This approach was particularly suited to the phased nature of the T301 project, where temporary edge protection requirements changed continuously as construction progressed.
STANDARDIZED
Repeatable Configuration
The same core system could be deployed across multiple work zones rather than designing a different temporary barrier for each area.
RELOCATABLE
Move With Construction
Components could be removed and reused as the active construction area moved through different phases of the project.
EFFICIENT
Reduce Site Fabrication
Standardized components reduced dependence on repeated on-site fabrication of temporary guardrail arrangements.
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Components Used for the T301 Project
The project used a modular combination of fixing, anchoring, post and barrier components that could be repeatedly deployed throughout the construction sequence.
FIXING BASE
Socket Base with M16 Concrete Bolt
Provides the fixed interface between the concrete structure and the temporary Safety Post.
ANCHOR
Concrete Wedge Anchor
Used as part of the concrete fixing arrangement for the socket-based system.
POST
1.2 m Bottom Safety Post
Provides the vertical support between the fixing base and the temporary mesh barrier.
BARRIER
2.6 m Mesh Panel
Forms the main temporary barrier along exposed construction edges.
PROJECT SCALE
3,301 Mesh Panels Supplied Across Two Project Phases
APAC supported the T301 project through two separate supply phases in 2019 and 2021, reflecting the long construction programme and changing edge protection requirements across the integrated depot.Approximately 8.25 km of Effective Edge Protection
Across the two phases, APAC supplied a total of 3,301 mesh panels, providing approximately 8.25 km of effective temporary edge protection coverage. For a project of this scale, the value of a modular system was not limited to the initial installation. The same standardized components could continue to be relocated and reused as protection requirements moved between construction zones. This helped maintain a consistent protection method throughout a construction sequence involving large and continuously changing work areas.
Scale Changes How an Edge Protection System Should Be Evaluated
On a large project, product selection should consider more than individual component cost. Installation speed, repeatability, relocation, compatibility and the amount of on-site fabrication required can all affect how efficiently the system performs throughout the project.

FAQ
GS E&C T301 Project FAQs
What edge protection system was supplied for the T301 project?
APAC supplied a modular socket-based temporary edge protection system using Socket Bases, 1.2 m Safety Posts and 2.6 m Mesh Panels together with the required concrete fixing components. Why was a modular system important for this project?
The integrated depot contained large and continuously changing work areas. A standardized modular system allowed protection to be installed, relocated and reused as the construction sequence progressed. How much edge protection did APAC supply?
Across two project phases in 2019 and 2021, APAC supplied 3,301 mesh panels providing approximately 8.25 km of effective temporary edge protection coverage. What was the advantage of the socket-based fixing system?
The socket-based configuration created standardized fixing points for the Safety Posts, supporting a repeatable edge protection arrangement that could be used across multiple construction areas. Can a similar system be used on another large construction project?
Potentially. The actual fixing method, structure, required protected length, construction sequence and technical requirements should be reviewed before determining the final system configuration and quantities.Planning Edge Protection for a Large or Phased Construction Project?
Send us your structural drawings, required protection length, construction sequence or bill of quantities. APAC can review the application and discuss a modular edge protection configuration for your project.
